Super Six Ewe Competition August 2016

A clean sweep of the Super six ewe competition at Bathurst by Roseville Park clients Peter Moore "Blink Bonnie" and Scott Seaman "Fosterfield". Peter won the Champion ewe overall and the Champion and Reserve pen overall. Scott won the Superfine pen.

Manildra Ewe Hogget Competition August 2016

Congratulations goes to long term Roseville Park client Pat Clowry on winning the Manildra Ewe Hogget competition. The judge and spectators commented that the ewes were balanced and were "peas in a pod" the wool had tremendous style and brightness after having 13 inches of rain in the last 8 weeks

Tasmania Flock Ewe Competition 2013

Congratulations to the Bowden family, Bothwell Tasmania on winning the inaugural Tasmanian flock ewe competition. The flock was selected from 24 Merino flocks who participated in the competition and was described by the judges as being at the top of the pack for wool quality, wool quantity, uniformity and excellent constitution. The Bowden's have been using Roseville Park genetics for over 15 years and produce fine wool sheep that micron 18-19 micron and have an average fleece weight of 6kg.

New Zealand, Marlborough Merino Breeders flock ewe Competition 2013

Congratulations to the Small family, Blairich Station, Blenheim New Zealand on placing first in the Marlborough breeders flock ewe competition in earl April. The competition was run over two days through the Marlborough region and was predominantly entered this year by fine wool flocks. The Blairich flock  was the largest flock entered in the competition and was placed first because of their uniformity, wool quality and wool quantity on structurally correct frames. The flock is classed by Chris Bowman and has been using imported rams and semen from Roseville Park sires including RP9-14, RP5-0002, RP3082, RP333 and RP39.

Bathurst Merino Association Maiden Ewe Competition 2013

Congratulations to Peter and Kaye Moore, "Blink Bonnie", Tarana NSW, who have taken out their second consecutive Bathurst Maiden ewe competition this year. Peter breeds sheep that are not treated for fly strike in a 700mm rainfall area and believes this is testament to his wool quality. The flock was described by the judges as ticking all the boxes with good skins, conformation, soft muzzles and well nourished wool. The flock is classed by Allan Clarke and rams are sourced from Dubbo Ram sales, the on property ram sale or out of the private selection grades. The  Blink Bonnie flock has an average lambing percentage of 105% and an average micron of 18.5 with a fleece weight of 6.5Kg.

Boorowa Flock Ewe Competition 2013

Roseville Park clients for the last 9 years, John and Andrew Green, "Kalinda", Boorowa, were placed second in the Boorowa Flock Ewe Competition after winning the competition last year. The flock has a long term average weaning percentage of 110% with some mobs weaning close to 150% lambs and an average micron of 18.8 and an average fleece weight of 6kg. The "Kalinda" flock is classed by Andrew Green and rams are selected from the on property ram sale and out of the private grades.

Roseville Park made a clean sweep at the 2012 BMA Super Six Maiden Ewe competition.  All major prizes went to Roseville Park clients.

Graham & Mary Wells, One Oak Merino Stud, Jerilderie NSW

One Oak Merino Stud did well at Bendigo Show 2012 with a son of RP09-0014.  He took out the Champion Medium Wool March Shorn Ram, Junior Champion Ram & Grand Champion March Shorn Ram.  The same awards RP09-0014 (His father) won in 2010.  One Oak Merino Stud also gained the highest top price at 2012 Hamilton Sheepvention with another son RP09-0014 bred through his Embryo Program.  This ram at sheepvention was 111.5kg, 18.4 Micron, 2.5 Standard Deviation and was purchased by Nareeb Nareeb Stud.

Tom, Camille & James Scalon, Quailerup West, Arthur River WA

Topped off a successful year after winning the coveted Farm Weekly Pen of 3 Autumn Shorn Rams at the 2011 Perth Royal.  The prize for the winning team is a Honda Motorbike.  The rams were all derivatives of RP02-45.

Christchurch Royal 2011 New Zealand

Progeny of RP05-0002 have performed well overseas for several studs including Armidale Merino Stud, Ranfurly NZ, who exhibited the Grand Champion Merino & Blairich Merino Stud who exhibited the “Best Wool” Exhibit at the NZ Royal Show, Christchurch.

Uruguay

Roseville Park 02-0198 performs well in Uruguay.  Roseville Park 02- 198 was sold to Estancia Las Rosa for $21,000 at Dubbo National Ram Sales in 2004.  He has become one of the most influential Rams in Uruguay with his progeny winning 9 Grand Champions at the major shows of Salto and Prado.  Uruguayan consultant Rodolfo Fernandez says, “His progeny are renowned for being waterproof in the high rainfall environment, increasing body weight, fleece weights & reducing micron.”

Michael & Jane Corkhill, Grassy Creek Merino Stud, Rugby NSW

Michael Corkhill, Grassy Creek Merino Stud, has had great success with his Ram GC8-33 by RP1135 winning the National Supreme March Shorn ram at Dubbo National 2010. The ram then went on to win the Champion fine wool at the Great Southern Canberra show in January and Supreme fine wool exhibit at Canberra Royal in February 2011. Grassy Creek 8-33 then finished off the show season by winning the Grand Champion Fine wool ram at Sydney Royal 2011.

John & Andrew Green, “Kalinda”, Boorowa NSW

 Fellow Competitors and spectators liked the white wool on John & Andrew Green’s ewes at “Kalinda”, Boorowa, with the pair taking out the honours in the Norman C Bellamy people’s choice award for their July-August 2009 drop ewes at the Boorowa Maiden Ewe Competition 2011. The Roseville Park blood flock also took out the AWN breeder’s selection award for the most even top ten percent. The flock is classed by Andrew Green .The Greens’ purchase their rams at the annual on-property ram sale.

The top three placings at the 2011 BMA Maiden Ewe competition went to Roseville Park clients.

  • Second place went to Brian Seaman, “Huntleigh”, Dunkeld
  • Third place went to John Osborne, “Rosedale”, Caloola

The Grove Partnership, Forbes NSW

In April 2011, The Grove partnership sold 479, 12 month old Merino wethers over the hooks to Fletcher International Exports, for $5.80/kg dress weight and a $22 skin value. The average carcass weight was 26.76kg and the average price/head was $177.10.The wethers were shorn 8 weeks before slaughter and cut an average of $47 worth of wool.The combined value of the wool and meat came to a total price of $224.10/head for the mob of wethers.  The Grove Partnership flock is classed by Matthew Coddington and their rams are selected out of the private grades for $800 - $1000.

AE & GR Gifford, St Arnaud Victoria 2010 

Congratulations to the Gifford Family on being awarded the Elders Premier Wool Clip of The Sale in October.

This award was in recognition of recording the highest price for Ultrafine Merino & Fine Merino Categories in the Elders Premier Catalogue, Melbourne. The Ultrafine line of wool tested 16.3 Micron, 44 N/Kt, 0.7% VM. And   made 781c/kg greasy. The top priced fine wool line tested 18.8mic, 36N/Kt, 92mm staple length and 0.5% VM. This line of wool made 669c/Kg greasy.

Australian Champion Fleece Award, Trunkey Creek NSW 2010

The Australian Champion Fleece award was won by Brian & Lynne Seaman with an 18.7 Micron Ewe's Fleece weighing 6.5Kg (Skirted). The Champion Ram's Fleece was exhibited by Scott Seaman which tested 18.0 micron and came out of the Fine Wool Class. The top three fleeces in this class where all from Roseville Park blood flocks.   The Medium Wool Open Class top 3, also went to Roseville Park Clients, including the winning fleece exhibited by Peter Moore which tested 21.0 Micron and weighed 7.3Kg (Skirted).

2007-2010 Shute Bell Merino Wether Trial At Orange

After the second shearing in mid April 2009 with 10.5 months wool, three clients of Roseville Park have gained the top three positions at  the Australian NationalField Day Orange Wether Trial.

Mark and Jodie Pendergast, Cottage Park Merino Stud, Cooma whose flock is classed by John Williams returned the highest average dollar return of $53.27 for their team of wethers.  They cut an average of 6.7 kg of 19 micron wool per head and body weighed 57.4kg off shears.

In second place and 22 cents behind at %53.05 with the heaviest average fleece weight of 6.8kg, were the team of wethers entered by the McGufficke Family, Greendale Merino Stud, Cooma.  This stud was established on Yarrawonga and Roseville Park.  Their team of wethers had an average body weight of 52.6kg off shears.
